Overview of the reasons for selecting the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Since growing up, I have always been attracted and enthusiastic about venturing into the nursing domain. My desire has always been to provide direct patient care and assisting the healthcare sector in advancing its practices through effective care policies. I grew up in an environment where I observed most people being exposed to different diseases. Due to the lack of quality care and attention services, they experience massive challenges like high re-admission rates and exposure to associated conditions. This made me improve my desire to venture into this field to assist people in overcoming prevalent health issues. I also love helping those in needy. I derive greater satisfaction in helping others to overcome their challenges. These are some of the notable personal reasons that attract me to pursuing the Doctor of Nursing Practice. My professional reason for undertaking this program is to advance my nursing career, influence the healthcare policy, and application of latest research into practice. The DNP program will make me more relevant in the nursing domain. Notably, I will have a viable opportunity to positively impact the healthcare sector through quality policies and applying the latest research into practice. Thus, furthering my nursing education will make me a relevant clinical leader in a changing healthcare environment.

The Doctor of Nursing Program exists as one of the attractive nursing domains. My desire to pursue this area is to impact the healthcare outcomes of individuals and the global population. I believe that one of the critical tasks that I will handle is the provision of direct patient care. This entails helping patients to meet their basic needs (Yorke, 2017). I am enthusiastic about offering this form of service to the needy, and I believe that this program will fulfill this desire. The other imperative role that I will fulfill is managing the care of patients and populations where I will be involved in offering viable recommendations on boosting patient’s health status and well-being. This will also entail informing patient populations about the safety mechanisms that they should undertake to avoid exposure to illnesses. The other important role is developing and implementing health policies. DNP nurses play a vital role in the making and implementation of care policies. Lastly, I will participate in the administration of the nursing area and the greater healthcare organization. The primary aim will be generating viable and sustainable change processes. Overall, my rationale for pursuing this role is to positively change people’s health and well-being through effective care and attention services.

I possess different personal strengths and experiences that have driven me into pursuing this program. I have cultivated effective leadership roles like excellent decision-making processes, conflict resolution, adaptability, and guidance where I mentor others into continual learning and development. These are essential leadership roles that make me a perfect candidate for the NDP program. For example, I believe that the continuous mentoring skill will motivate fellow nurses to take up advanced opportunities that allow them to offer quality services to the patients. This will have a greater impact on direct care and overall healthcare services. I also possess quality experience in the nursing domain. I have worked across various healthcare institutions at different nursing levels. This has given me appropriate exposure as a nursing professional and a leader. Notably, I have undertaken various community-based initiatives and services focusing on health. For example, I have been involved in community awareness programs focusing on health and wellness. This helped me to connect with patients at the grassroots level. Overall, my leadership roles, nursing experience, and community service gave me excellent exposure to healthcare issues and needs. This is a crucial foundation for my success because I will use the insights gained to achieve success in my graduate program.

One of my targeted long-term goals is that the NDP program will advance my professional career.
