Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is considered as the ability of an individual to monitor individual emotions and that of others. This is used to emphasize with workmates while engaging in a deep conversation with the others (Mayer, Caruso and Salovey, 2016). Emotional intelligence offers direct contact with others thus offering a better understanding of self as well as healthy life. The emotional intelligence test indicated my ability to control, perceive and evaluate emotions. The test was designed to evaluate individual ability to manage and identify emotions as well as using my emotions during various problem solving situations.

Understanding personal capabilities to handle self-emotions and emotions of others is a requirement while leading others. In the areas of emotional intelligence, the results illustrated that overall performance was fairly good. The results indicated the capability of dealing and understanding emotions. Malloch and Porter-O’Grady have emphasized and discussed on various practices that can be used to increase the level of emotional intelligence. They have highlighted relationship management, social awareness and self-management, emotional and self-awareness as essential practices to increase emotional intelligence.

Social awareness is considered as the ability of an individual to have emotional connectivity with the changing emotional experience. This means being able to empathize with others with varying backgrounds (Di Fabio and Kenny, 2016). Relationship management entails being close to others and managing interactions with others. This means the ability of an individual to get the best out of others through improved connections. Self-management is the capacity of assessing and thinking clearly about personal emotions and those of others thus being able to compromise with stressful circumstances. This improves the ability to decide what needs to be completed and to prioritize goals. Self-awareness entails the ability to focus on individual thoughts and actions thus ensuring that they align with internal standards. High self-aware individuals can evaluate themselves, align their behaviors and manage their emotions. Emotional intelligence enables one to have proper reasoning and effectively deal with change.
