Write a short essay on Political Slogans. It’s election season, so there are new (and familiar) candidates vying for office. Select three or four campaign slogans to analyze in depth:

Are they making some kind of argument? (issue, conclusion, reasons?)

Are any of the words ambiguous?

Take your time and think these through. Sometimes the shorter the communication, the more there is to say about it, because there is more that the audience has to bring to it to understand it. And that introduces complications because we are all bringing different understandings to any conversation.

Introduction

The discussion below focuses on the upcoming 2022 Gubernatorial elections to examine the use of political slogans to determine how they impact on the electoral processes, trends, and outcomes. The use of political slogans is a fundamental aspect used by aspirants in different positions to air their key message and what they aspiring to achieve once elected for the particular position. The research analysis done in this paper will examine gubernatorial candidates for three states including California, Illinois, and Michigan.

Analysis

The political slogan utilized by Laura Smith (Republican, R) to run for California’s state governorship comprises of “the People’s Governor (Ballotpedia, 2021).” The slogan is intended to encompass key issues including “government corruption, crime, infrastructure, jobs, education, veterans, and homeless” (Smith, 2021). The message advocated aligns with the slogan to portray the dire issues affecting the people of that particular state.

In Illinois, Gary Rabine (R) running for the state governor is focusing on his slogan to encompass “paving the way to stay” (Minnis, 2021). The slogan intends to champion on the need to create better leadership standards which are long-lasting and beneficial to the citizens of the particular state.

Furthermore, in Michigan, Tudor Dixon (R) pursuit of the gubernatorial race is guided by the slogan of “hope” (Olson, 2021). The slogan intends to entice the electorates on believing the value of creating a better future through good governance and accountability to the people.

Conclusion

Taking all the slogans, the contents, and context into account, the play a critical role in summarizing the key issues of focus for a particular candidate in any specific position. The use of political slogan helps the candidates sell their diverse views, objectives, and manifestos to the electorate. Hence, political slogans play a crucial role in enabling political candidate woe the citizens into voting for them to any office.
