Violence continues to increase every day in contemporary society. The media broadcasts numerous cases of violence that affects people’s lives. For example, across platforms such as radio, television, newspapers, and social media, violent events are reported daily. The situation is adverse as people are losing their lives and properties. Young people are one of the segments associated with increasing violence. Issues such as poverty and lack of job opportunities are forcing the youth into crime. Most youths are looking for ways to survive and beat poverty by involving themselves in burglary and robbery. Thus, the different violence cases reported every day show that society is entangled in violence-related activities, which poses a significant threat to people’s health and well-being. I have witnessed distinct forms of violence and heard similar cases among my family members and friends.

I have also witnessed violence happening a couple of times. One of the occurrences that amazed me was someone being mugged during the daytime. As a woman was walking across the streets, a group of young men emerged and surrounded the lady. They had some sharp weapons that they used to threaten her and robbed her of everything. After this incident, I also happened to witness a few more incidents. My family members and friends also informed me that they have witnessed such issues or heard someone saying that they were attacked and robbed. These issues got me thinking about the status of our modern society. People are robbed during the daytime, and this means that things are getting out of hand. Violence is increasing as the days go by and the well-being of the current and future generations is at risk. If we fail to address this menace, the forthcoming generations will find a torn apart community.
