ANSWER

Response to Bianca

Hello Bianca, I like how you used the reward system approach to answer the question on stimulating conflict and how it can help the organization. Conflict can be healthy in any organization, and thus I do not think I understand your discussion. However, I believe that conflict in an organization can help boost creativity and help the employees perform better. For example, when the employees disagree on how they should carry out a particular task, they can let the employees argue their options until they develop a compromise. Conflict can be used in an organization to help people find creative ways to perform their tasks.

Response to Alfredo

Hello Alfredo, I find your approach to the question quite insightful. Using the conflict-solving techniques to get a positive outcome out of conflict. Conflict does not have to be all bad in an organization as long as the people disagree in a respectful manner (McCarter et al., 2020). People have differing opinions in organizations all the time. Therefore, using different methods, such as the devil’s advocate, as you stated in your discussion, is a creative way of getting the best out of the situation. Conflict can be solved in an organization, and it is the role of the leaders within the organization to ensure there are some positives coming out of it.

It is true that there are two types of conflict functional and dysfunctional conflict. It is the role of any leader to ensure that the conflict within the organization is not dysfunctional. Dysfunctional conflict involves types of conflict that eventually lead to people fighting or being disrespectful (McCarter et al., 2020). Functional conflict is the type of conflict where people find a solution and eventually benefit from the outcome of the conflict. It is healthy for people in an organization to respectfully argue and discuss different points of view.
