Compose an email where you explain your experience with the course and what you learned throughout the semester. What connections did you make that seemed interesting? What readings really made good points that you found helpful. What did you struggle with? What might you tell your friend to be sure and spend extra time on? Why?

Dear Jane,

Hello Jane. I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you to tell you about a class I took online titled LIT 2000. I had so much fun doing it. I thought it should be something that you find interesting considering how much you like reading. I was able to read books such as Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx, short stories like The Other Wife by Colette, The School Days of an Indian Girl by Zitkala-Sa, and The Man Who Was Almost a Man by Richard Wright; and poetry like A History of Sexual Preference by Robin Becker. What is even more interesting is that I may have read these stories and poems before, but it was not until I took the class that I really began to grasp the deeper meaning of the text. There were themes like love, racism, homosexuality, relationships, and different sexual orientation. Themes that are valid in today’s world.

There is also something I found intriguing, the concept of Manifest Destiny. Have you ever heard of it before? Apparently, we Americans, or rather, our ancestors, believed that they had been tasked by a divine power to subdue the earth, and that was the reason previous generations treated the continent like it was their own. They pushed the natives aside, killed the wildlife, and demolished entire ecosystems so that they could set up telegram lines, railways, buildings, and mines. All because that was their order from God. I found that confusing because I always thought that God would want his people to conserve his creation rather than annihilate it. I am sure you have very strong opinions about that.

Other than that, I would really recommend that you take the class too, and maybe when the COVID-19 pandemic passes, we can meet up and have this discussion in person. Say hello to everyone at home and goodbye.
