Stakeholder engagement plays an essential role in successful capstone change proposal project implementation. Stakeholders include both external and internal stakeholders that play a significant role in the organization’s operations and performance and individuals affected by the initiatives undertaken in a healthcare setting. For this case, the important stakeholders include individuals with a vested interest in healthcare decisions and help in successfully implementing the evidence-based clinical project. The clinical project in question is focused on improving the identification of clinical depression among the elderly in-home health setting patients by 100 per cent. Therefore, PHQ-2 will be compared to GDS-15 to determine which is more effective in identifying clinical depression. The stakeholders will play varying roles in the decision-making process to improve clinical depression identification.
Stakeholders Involved
Stakeholder engagement is a principal element required in developing and implementing guidelines (Kujala et al., 2022). The major stakeholders for the clinical project include the patients, family members, care managers, clinicians and healthcare facility representatives. Most patients might expect that the tests will involve treatment and medications. Therefore, stakeholders’ expectations were a major barrier to engaging in the interventions. A lack of shared vision or reciprocity among stakeholders creates a barrier. Time and availability of stakeholders also affect the engagement and participation of the stakeholders.
Strategies Used to gain support and assistance from your stakeholders.
Managing their expectations plays a vital role in continued stakeholders’ engagement (Freeman et al., 2017). Managing their expectations allows for common ground and definition of the deliverables and maintains the project’s focus. Ensuring that the stakeholders understand the positive and negative effects of the idea will boost their support since they understand why the idea is important. Communicating consistently will increase their support since they understand the process and intention of the project. Communication will eliminate surprises and ambiguities since the stakeholders are engaged throughout the process (Pellecchia et al., 2022). Being proactive and transparent without assuming that they are key decision-makers promotes their support. The key stakeholders have to be updated on the project since they get anxious when they lack updates on what is happening.
Stakeholder engagement is effective in the success of the capstone project. Different stakeholders have varying needs that can be met through understanding the stakeholders. The stakeholders in this capstone project are expected to offer support and assistance since the intervention improves the quality of care. Therefore, there is a need to focus on systematic identification, planning, analysis and implementation of actions that influence the stakeholder to support the capstone project.
