Significance of world literature: The pillow book

The pillow book is a biography by Sei Shōnagon, which can also be identified as wisdom literature.  This is because it comprises observations and musings recorded by the author in the 990s and early 1000s. It contains essays, pones, anecdotes, and descriptive passages, all of which have little connection with each other. The text is a book that involves a collection of notebooks collected to show a period of someone or something’s life.

Every writing and art piece in the book represents what Seui was thinking at any given moment in her life.  In the book are the personal thoughts, opinions, and exciting events that occurred in her life. This is an ideal type of text since it is an exceptional text that is comprehensive and well remits the author’s thoughts, views, and opinions, who deemed it right to document all her life happenings by noting them in a book.
