ANSWER
Unemployment in the United States
Unemployment is one of the key economic challenges facing the United States of America. Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, the country has experienced a significant rise in unemployment levels. Most people have lost their jobs primarily due to the closure of businesses based on lack of market. Lockdowns and the stay at home directive strategies have forced numerous businesses to close down since there is limited movement in and out of the country. As the US struggles with a high unemployment rate and an increasing Coronavirus relief package, stakeholders have noted that more people are receiving unemployment benefits than are unemployed. Statistics show that about 12.5 million people were unemployed as of September, while around 13.5 million people were making claims (De Lea, 2020). This shows a discrepancy since those seeking relief packages exceeded the number of unemployed persons in the US. Amidst this confusion, unemployment remains a crucial challenge that affects the United States. Individuals are less likely to access basic needs and sustain other aspects of their lives due to a lack of resources attributed to the loss of job opportunities.
Everyone is currently suffering in the US due to the rising level of unemployment. For example, family members are left to financially take care of their loved ones who have lost their jobs. To ensure that the US government addresses unemployment fairly and equitably, it should increase its CARE plan package to ensure that it incorporates anyone experiencing a heavy burden due to the high unemployment cost. Everyone who has lost an opportunity to make income due to the pandemic stands to achieve financial support. Thus, the government should not only focus on those who were under formal employment. This can ensure that everyone has a chance to boost their lives amidst the heavy unemployment burden caused by the pandemic.
