Using the same topic as last project evaluation, select a qualitative methodology that you feel would best fit your research question. Describe that methodology, why you selected it, and how it would fit your research question.

Has the change in methodology affected your theory? Your independent and dependent variables? Your operationalization? [hint – it should have changed at least two of these] How will you adjust your research proposal to this new methodology?

What is your target population? What is your sample? How will you recruit your subjects? Is your sample random? Representative? Will your results be generalizable? How has your strategy changed with the new methodology?

Answer the question that conforms to your proposed methodology (and delete the others). A) Provide 3 questions you would ask in an interview on your topic. For each, describe how it will measure the major concepts identified in your proposal. B) Identify a field research plan. Where will you go, what will you be looking for, and how does this relate to the major concepts identified in your proposal? C) Outline your autoethnography. Address how your self-data captures the major concepts identified in your proposal. Justify your decision to make yourself your own subject and discuss the ethical challenges in this approach. D) Discuss your plan for content analysis. Where will your artifacts/data come from? What coding schemes will you be using? How will you be measuring the major concepts identified in your proposal?

One of the strengths of qualitative research is that it is more open and nuanced. This is also a drawback though because the researcher has a greater role in interpretation. Discuss what potential ethical challenges are presented by your topic and what steps you will take to ensure you remain objective.

Extrajudicial Killings

In the world today, many people have been complaining about being mistreated by the security forces in their countries. These security forces sometimes even end up killing people mercilessly leading to extrajudicial killings. The most egregious misuse of power and violation of victims’ rights to life and a fair trial is extrajudicial execution. The research indicates that, because of an established culture of impunity, police not only accept the concept of maximal force in crime control but also frequently kill suspects and non-suspects for the flimsiest reason. This culture of impunity stems in large part from the government’s approval of a shoot-to-kill policy when confronting armed robbers and other violent offenders (Igbo, 2017).

My research question on this topic of ‘Extrajudicial Killings’ was; do extrajudicial killings in a country lead to a culture of violence? The methodology that I used to study this social problem of extrajudicial killings was the use of a case study. This methodology has affected my theory because it has added critical information to my already studied theory. Some of the added information that I have obtained from my case study is that most of the victims that suffer from this social problem of extrajudicial killings are drug dealers; drug traffickers and drug peddlers.

My target population was the youth and used a sample of them to carry out this case study. I selected the samples randomly without putting anything into consideration. my results were generally based on the effects of extrajudicial killing in society. Some of the questions I would ask in the interview of my topic are; what are extrajudicial killings, what causes this problem, and what are the effects of extrajudicial killings in society. My field research plan for this topic is to use a case study. I  carried out a case study on this topic to acquire more information about this social problem. My autoethnography from this research topic is that extrajudicial killings cause an eruption of war in society or the government.
