Sustainability and You

This final discussion assignment is to apply the terms listed below, and apply them to what the course has presented to you on Florida and its ecosystems. Lastly, we wish to hear how you can practice sustainability in your own everyday lives and habits.

Be sure to answer the following questions:

1) Define Sustainability and Sustainable development. Please use valid resources such as government or educational sites. Provide their definitions in your own words, do not copy and paste.

2) Compare and contrast the three components of a sustainable society. The three components are ecological integrity, social justice and economic prosperity. The course discussed the first component, ecological integrity, in the most detail, with references to social justice and economic prosperity. Provide, in your own words, how each component can work together, as well as the difficulties of maintaining each with the influences of the others.

3) In the freshwater marshes unit, there are several examples of humans now emulating nature. Provide one of them.

4) How can you, as an individual, change behavior or practice to be a more sustainable individual?

Sustainable Development

Sustainability means accomplishing or achieving one’s expectations without causing any negative effects on the expectations of the future generation (Holmberg & Sandbrook 2019). This can be done by working accurately, working hard, and following instructions. On the other hand, sustainable development is successful economic development without the depletion of the natural resources in the surrounding. The three components of sustainability are; economical integrity, social justice, and economic prosperity (Holmberg & Sandbrook 2019). This paper will discuss sustainability and sustainable society.

Economical integrity is the ability of a business to conduct its business activities in an honest way to its customers and clients (Holmberg & Sandbrook 2019). The same way integrity is defined in real life as honesty, openness and coherence is the same way that meaning applies in businesses. Transparency in business activities is also a sign of economical integrity (Holmberg & Sandbrook 2019). This is where all the workers in a business are transparent to each other and always tell the truth.

Social justice in sustainable development is the balance that exists between human rights and business needs. The business needs are met without violating human rights as well as avoiding the depletion of natural resources in the surrounding environment.

(Tomislav 2018)Economic prosperity is when the expected outputs are met without violating economic integrity and social justice. Economic growth improves livelihood and also betters the infrastructure. Economic prosperity also makes job opportunities increase in a community.

One of the humans emulating nature in the freshwater marshes unit is the muskrat. To be a more sustainable individual one should always work hard to meet their expectations and always follow the right protocols (Tomislav 2018). One should also be fond of meeting these expectations without depleting natural resources in the environment.

In conclusion, for sustainable development to be achieved everyone in the society must work in collaboration with others while conserving and protecting the natural resources.
