The United States Congress M1D
The United States Congress was developed in 1789 after new Constitution at the New York’s City Federal Hall. The Congress of United Sates is the bilateral legislature of the national administration of the United States, and comprises of two chambers: House of Representatives and the senate as per Article 1 of the Constitution. Being a legislative arm of the federal government, United Sate Congress plays a major role in making the national laws and representing the American people (Saudelli, Strowman and Kline, 2021). They meet at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. where the senator and representatives are selected through direction election, though positions in the Senate may be occupied by a gubernatorial selection. Members of the House are elected from single-member districts.
Through the legislative compromise and debate, the United States Congress makes the laws that impact the daily lives of every American. It holds hearings that play a great role in informing investigation, legislative process and overseeing the executive arm. Therefore, my Interest in the United States lies on the basis of understanding how Congress works and what new knowledge I can gain about our government and its laws. I hope to learn about the different roles that members of Congress play in our government and how they work together to pass legislation. I also hope to learn about the different ways that Congressmen and Senators can impact the laws that are passed. My ultimate goal is to have a better understanding of our government and how it works so that I can be a more informed citizen.
The study on Congress will help in gaining new knowledge about how this institution works, what its main functions are and how it is organized. Understanding the United States Congress is important to understanding the American political system as a whole. This will also provide an understanding about the role that Congress plays in the US political system. Learning about the Congress will also help understand their important powers and how it represents the people.
