ANSWER

David Logan: Tribal Leadership

Logan’s idea about tribal leadership revolves around identifying potential persons who can make a tribe and share a common culture. The leader finds someone belonging to one tribe and then finds another tribe and makes introductions. The tribal leadership theory encompasses five stages which the tribes must follow. In each of these stages, tribal members portray characteristics that align with each of these levels’ expectations.  For instance, in stage three, members develop satisfaction and comfort in the group setting. Overall, Logan’s theory on tribes addresses instances where different members from diverse backgrounds form a group. The leader moves the group across all five stages with the central aim of transforming them into better people.

Logan’s approach to tribal leadership generates an essential understanding of this key perspective. I have participated in groups portraying this approach. One of the tribes that I have participated in was during an internship opportunity. The team was composed of members from all backgrounds. Our leader cultivated an environment where every group member used friendly words and statements. Notably, he also helped the team to develop interpersonal relationships that supported unity and togetherness. Another key tribe that I have participated in was a local sporting group where our coach established a similar environment, which allowed us to work collaboratively. I resonate with Logan’s theory on tribes since I have actively participated in distinct diverse groups.

Change is a common occurrence across various organizations. Logan calls for the development of tribal culture. However, his five stages prevent the attainment of viable change processes. In the last phase, I believe that workers have developed a similar common trait. In case of an industry change, the group is less likely to bring forth such an element and support it because they believe they have achieved optimal outcomes. In the fifth stage, members rarely speak about competition and are keen on speaking about how their results exceed the expected industry norms. This shows that they are less likely to show interest in a potential change process developing from emerging market trends. I believe that tribal leadership affects the perception and attitude towards change processes.

A Powerful Vision for Change Process Speech

Martin Luther King delivered a speech about social and economic change in the US. He concentrated on the American people’s civil rights in efforts to change the leadership status to ensure that community members had a safe and secure living environment. His speech highlights the vision for change. He dreamt of a time when the American people would enjoy their rights, which led him to form a movement that campaigned for change. He specifically highlights the black people’s detrimental status despite the Emancipation Proclamation Agenda being put in place years ago to advance their lives. I admire this speech because it directly speaks to me. I have always been interested in creating viable social, economic, and political changes in my community and globally. I do not believe in the status quo. Everyone should be willing and ready to initiate change processes at their respective levels. Martin Luther’s speech encompasses key characteristics reflected in effective vision statements. It has a transcendent goal and is specific. Also, it is motivational and forward-looking. These features enable the audience to understand its rationale and the benefits they stand to gain.

Position Statement on Logan’s Theory

Logan’s theory of tribe leadership is valid. Considering the team members emerge from distinct backgrounds, there is a dire need to ensure that they share a common culture. This enables them to call for change in an organization. When the team members work as a team, they are better positioned to make a significant difference. They possess a collective power that enables them to demand crucial changes in the workplace. As for leaders, this approach permits them to build an effective and sustainable team. The five steps provide the opportunity to boost their skills and abilities. This guarantees improved growth and productivity. Overall, the tribe leadership approach is valid as it opens opportunities for building a common workplace culture. Institutions thrive better when the team members work collectively and collaboratively. Considering the increased diversity in today’s organizations, leaders need to develop and cultivate leadership that supports success and sustainability. Undoubtedly, tribe leadership is one of the perspectives that generate advanced outcomes in the workplace.
