From the Strengths Finder assessment exercise (Gallup, 2020), I was able to identify some of my strengths and acquire a better understanding of my personality and leadership qualities. My top five themes were restorative, discipline, achiever, responsibility, and developer. The results pinpointed my characteristic of loving and enjoying the process of solving problems when other people are often dismayed or stressed when problems arise. I tend to enjoy challenges and analyzing situations that require solutions. I also have an inner desire for organization and orderliness. I tend to come up with appropriate routines and plans when going about my daily activities and projects. I also focus a lot on deadlines and expected outcomes in everything that I do. My motivation comes from within – the inner desire to achieve and overcome any challenge.

As the results of the assessment exercise pointed out, responsibility is one of my key attributes. An individual who is responsible tends to take ownership of all the activities and tasks that they commit to and those assigned to them (Brenkert, 2006). Rather than making excuses, I strive to accomplish every task assigned to me and go the extra mile to give the best possible results. As a developer, I also see potential in others and enjoy working in teams. I enjoy interacting with others and try my best to assist them in any way possible (Sutton et al., 2011). I would like to develop my developer and restorative values to ensure that I do not obsess on challenge solving and that I evaluate the people I’m working with objectively rather than being always positive about them. I would also like to improve my discipline and time consciousness to ensure that I always meet project and task deadlines without delays. By improving these values and strengths, I will become a better leader and team player.
