1-1 Discussion: Entrepreneurs or Intrapreneurs as Change Agents

In this discussion, begin by introducing yourself to the class and explaining your background. Next, using your learning from MBA 515 and MBA 550, outline your views on the importance of new ideas and concepts by explaining how you will incorporate entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship into your business implementation plan. Then explain and justify how your own concept or idea fits within the context of entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship to create change.

Project Implementation Plan

(Self-introduction and background)

The business world, trends, and dynamics keep changing and evolving due to events such as globalization and the advancement of technology, among others. These changes result in new ideas and concepts that, when exploited, become opportunities or threats to businesses. New ideas and concepts are of a significant benefit than damage to an organization. New ideas and concepts enable firms to be more creative and innovative, which yields many benefits. These benefits include but not limited to improved processes, the discovery of new products or services to market, maximizes profitability, and, most importantly, maximizes the competitive advantage, among others (Verweire, 2014). The business implementation plan revolves around introducing autonomous or driverless trucks and an integrated system in the transportation, shipping, and distribution departments at L.S Starrett Company. The implementation plan seeks to realize the objectives set in the planning stages.

The transportation department in the company will undertake this intrapreneurship venture. This department, like any other department, is mandated to derive and develop innovative processes and ideas, to smoothen operations and activities in the company. Intrapreneurs in the departments will ensure that while effecting change in the transportation department, their strategies align with the organizational goals and objectives. The idea of introducing autonomous trucks in the company’s transportation department fits within the intrapreneurship, as this is an idea known to many (George Vozikis, 2014). Moreover, a team of members in the transportation, shipping, and distribution departments was earlier mandated with adequate R&D on the most appropriate way to introduce and implement the idea. The implementation will be undertaken from within the company, Starrett Company, which is an existing enterprise, will finance the project, and the company will equally share the risk.
